Healthy Skin Projects Vitality

Well cared for skin is a key part of a youthful appearance. As skin ages, damage from years of sun and other lifestyle choices, like smoking, become hard to ignore. Dr. Bass always reminds his patients that supple, radiant skin comes from a consistent skincare regimen. This becomes increasingly important as one grows older. Taking excellent care of one's skin is also necessary after undergoing a facelift in order to maintain long-term results.  A facelift will reposition the aging skin but does not help to improve skin quality.

Guidance Toward The Best Options

There are a multitude of skin treatments on the market today. Without a knowledgeable guide, it can be hard to choose effective solutions. Dr. Bass has spent decades as a consultant for skincare companies, evaluating and developing new rejuvenating skincare treatments. Below are a sampling of skincare services offered at Bass Plastic Surgery. For many, a combination of treatments is needed to achieve the best results.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion painlessly removes surface-level damaged skin and cleans out pores. It is a suitable corrective solution for rough skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and acne flare-ups. Additionally, microdermabrasion promotes circulation and lymph flow. With no recovery and typically done as a series of treatments, this is a gentle way to address a number of features.  Results for some are visible after one treatment, however it is common for more than one session to see noteworthy results. Dr. Bass himself helped develop some of the early  clinical protocols used in microdermabrasion in the USA.

PicoSure

PicoSure laser treatments are effective for minimizing scars, fine lines, resistant pigment and tattoo removal. Different types of scars including surgical scars, acne scars and traumatic scars can be treated.  Typically done as a series of treatments, there is scarcely any discomfort or risk of downtime.

IPL/BBL

Aging skin often has redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, age spots (also called sun spots or liver spots), irregular skin pigmentation and other discolorations. Under the care of a skilled provider, these issues can be corrected with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broadband light (BBL) treatments. These treatments are suitable for most areas of the body and are typically performed over a series of visits.

IPL/BBL is delivered as bursts of bright light through a handpiece that is held again each portion of the skin.  The energy targets the vascular and pigment in the problem areas without affecting the undamaged cells. IPL/BBL delays visible indications of skin aging by fading unsightly redness or pigmentation.

PRP

Jumpstarting the aging biology of the skin is often accomplished with topical applications of PRP or growth factors after microneedling or Tixel, which has been shown to open larger conduits into the skin for longer than microneedling.  These treatments are performed in a series or periodically to help restore and maintain skin quality.  A day or two of redness or swelling is typical after a treatment.

Can Skin Restoring Treatments Help You?

Anyone with skin damage due to age, environment, or lifestyle should consider skin treatments. Dr. Bass listens thoroughly to each patient's goals and medical history and uses his decades of experience to determine which treatments will provide the patient with the best results. Since he forms long-term relationships with his patients, Dr. Bass is able to gauge the efficacy of a particular treatment, adjusting when necessary.
